Restauranteurs and Retailers Invited to Leasing Outreach Webinar

The Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and MarketPlace PHL will host a one-hour leasing outreach webinar on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 11a.m. Restauranteurs, retailers including automated (vending) retailers, and quick service food operators are invited to learn about the airport concession leasing process. MarketPlace PHL has over 130 restaurant, food and retail locations open throughout the airport.

What to Know when Flying Through PHL Airport for Spring Break

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is anticipating a very busy Spring Break season throughout its terminals. With changes to where and how people work, some travelers are finding it easier to get away for long weekends.  

“Not only are our passengers heading to sun and sand destinations for vacation, but we are also beginning to see the return of business travelers,” said PHL Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships Kate Sullivan. “And, on March 26, the airlines’ summer schedules began, which means more transatlantic service for PHL.”  

TSA Mandates Rap Back Check for Airport Workers Nationwide

Airports across the country have been mandated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to implement Rap Back, a continuous search and reporting system of arrests and convictions through the FBI. By providing daily updates on fingerprints on file, Rap Back is expected to close the loopholes that exist between the hiring process and a felonious encounter with the authorities.

The Department of Transportation’s Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (ACDBE) program is designed to level the playing-field for small minority-owned businesses that participate in airport contracting opportunities. At the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), there are currently 19 ACDBE participants, including Strother Enterprises Inc., a minority-veteran-owned business that operates two PHL Food & Shops Subway franchises in the B/C food court and Terminal E.
