All You Need to Know About Ground Stops

Have you ever wondered why you’re ready for take-off and your aircraft isn't leaving? The plane is ready for departure, the weather is nice, other planes are leaving, but your flight is delayed. It’s most likely due to a ground stop (GS).  

GSs are a common safety tool utilized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to control air traffic volume. The FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) can issue a ground stop to slow or halt the flow of aircraft to a given airport.

This award recognizes employees who provide exceptional care and services to seniors, families with young children, disabled passengers, and others with special needs.   

Celebrating 25 Years of Art at the Airport

Philadelphia International Airport's (PHL) Exhibitions Program is celebrating 25 years of showcasing the work of artists and organizations from across the Greater Philadelphia Region to the millions of passengers that travel through PHL every year. Thank you to REC Philly for creating videos  to highlight what the art program means to airport guests and employees, as well as artists King Saladeen and Amberella.

MarketPlace PHL Celebrates 25 Years at the Philadelphia International Airport

On June 6, MarketPlace PHL and the City of Philadelphia Division of Aviation celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the PHL Food and Shops Program with a ceremony at the B/C Food Court MarketPlace PHL is a private partner of PHL’s food and retail programs. There are more than 170 shops, restaurants, and services in the award-winning program which includes a wide variety of local, regional, and national brands.  

Department of Aviation and COMTO Philadelphia Celebrate Scholarship Recipients

On June 2, the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) Philadelphia leaders celebrated the next generation of leaders furthering their education for entry and advancement within the transportation industry. The COMTO Philadelphia Scholarship Awards Program recognizes student honorees and their educational achievements.
