PHL Unsung Heroes - Paramount Building Solutions Custodian Stanley Mulbah

Paramount Building Solutions Custodian Stanley Mulbah recently received the “Unsung Heroes” award from Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL) Employee Recognition Program. The program honors employees who work behind the scenes and are not typically recognized for their work. Although they do not work directly with guests, their effectiveness significantly affects the airport and guest experience.

As a custodian, Mulbah upholds the cleanliness of all American break rooms, bathrooms, and offices at PHL. He has been at the airport for over one year and typically works the 1:30 – 9:30 p.m. shift.  While working, Mulbah demonstrates the values of teamwork, proactive communication, respect, and integrity.

“PHL is the best place to work,” said Mulbah. "You learn different things. You interact with new people every day. I enjoy my job. It’s a great opportunity.”

In his nomination of Mulbah, American Flight Attendant Benjamin Reid stated, “I met Stanley in the American Terminal B Crew Room after finishing a trip. I spoke with him and want to say that PHL is very lucky to have an employee as kind, personable, and dedicated as Stanley. Not only does he ensure that the Crew Room is clean, but he is also very warm. It was lovely to meet him, and I look forward to seeing him again!”

Mulbah is originally from Liberia and is fluent in his native language, Kpelle. He frequently assists guests in navigating the airport.

“This is what I choose to do,” said Mulbah. “I’m committed to it. I’m doing this to the best of my ability.”

Mulbah loves Philadelphia for its multicultural diversity. “Everyone is represented,” he said. “It’s nice being here and working with people from different cultures. I’m happy here. You grow every day.”

Within Paramount Building Solutions, everyone knows Mulbah by his first name. He is sociable and enjoys connecting with his coworkers as they all work together to complete their tasks. “Our relationships with one another are good,” he said.

Mulbah is grateful to receive this award from the Employee Recognition Program. “I thank Benjamin for nominating me,” he said. “I also thank and appreciate Florence at Paramount Building Solutions for bringing me here. I’m happy to be in the U.S.”

The PHL Employee Recognition Program was established by the airport’s Guest Experience (GX) Department. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by the GX Council Steering Committee’s Employee Conduct and Recognition Committee.
