PHL Hosts DCCC Students for Airport Trades Tour

Faculty and students from Delaware County Community College’s Skilled Trades program visited Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on September 23, for the Department of Aviation Community Relations team’s first Trades Tour.

The students visited the airport’s maintenance facilities, central utility building and mechanical room. The group also had the opportunity to speak directly with Interim Vice President of Facilities Maintenance Milton Robinson and Airport Facilities Manager James Jones and learn about the variety of careers available at PHL.

After the tour, the guests heard presentations from several Department of Aviation leaders, including Chief Administrative Officer Delicsha Wilds; Vice President of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Donna Jackson Stephans; Director of Community Relations and Outreach Keesha Lane; and Director of Workforce Development Chevelle Harrison. HR team members Qyiana Churn and Rebecca Serrano shared information on perks and benefits that come with working for the City of Philadelphia, the hiring process and general practices.

Jennifer Orazi, the College’s Dean of Workforce & Economic Development, expressed her gratitude to the PHL team for the tour. “Thank you so much for a great day for our students. The team went above and beyond to welcome the students and give them a snapshot of working at PHL. I will continue to refer students to your site for employment.”

The airport is excited to partner with more local community colleges and technical schools in the future. For information, contact Keesha Lane at [email protected] or Community Relations and Outreach Coordinator Zoraida “Z” Antonetty at [email protected].
