PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – Today, American Airlines launches its inaugural flight to Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH) from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). New service to Copenhagen is the final of three new transatlantic routes, including Nice, France and Naples, Italy which launched earlier this summer.

“American Airlines is proud to offer unparalleled access to some of the most popular European vacation destinations from Philadelphia, which serves as the airline’s transatlantic gateway,” said Lakshman Amaranayaka, American Airlines Vice President of PHL Hub Operations. “It’s our honor to strengthen our network with three popular European destinations for our customers to enjoy this summer, and I thank our team of 8,600 Philadelphia-based team members who are the reason we continue to grow at PHL.”

New service to CPH will operate daily from PHL. Additionally, the airline inaugurated service to Naples, Italy on June 5, and Nice, France on May 6. This summer, American will offer more than a dozen nonstop flights to 14 European destinations, giving its customers direct access to the rich culture and history of Europe.

American’s summer schedule growth at PHL
American plans to operate more than 300 peak-day departures from its Philadelphia hub this summer. Between May 17 and September 3, the airline expects to serve nearly 3.5 million customers from PHL and offer 23% more seats compared to last summer.
