There was an unexpected participant at Philadelphia International Airport’s (PHL’s) 6th 5K on the Runway on September 23, but rain caused by Tropical Storm Ophelia didn’t keep hundreds of runners and walkers from departing on Runway 8-26 from the ramp near Atlantic Aviation.
The fastest runners to “land” at the finish line were Tom Katelhon with a time of 19:10 and Lauren Brands McCreesh, who crossed at the 21:50 mark. The top three male and female runners in seven age groups, ranging from 12-under to 60-over, were also awarded medals. A complete list of winners can be found here.
Proceeds from the race totaled more than $35,500 and supported Eastwick United, Eastwick Friends and Neighbors Coalition and March of Dimes.
