EDUCATION
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is committed to empowering the next generation through various educational initiatives:
- PHL Airport representatives have actively participated in career day events at schools and colleges such as Penrose Elementary, Chester County School, Bodine High School, Neumann University, and Delaware County Community College.
- Students from West Chester University visited PHL to witness a safety demonstration and gain insights into accident investigations.
- PHL hosted students from Rowan University, where they learned about air service development and cargo services.
- Representatives from PHL’s Purchasing Administration and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise engaged participants at a Black History Program at Delaware County Community College, highlighting opportunities at PHL.
- We've developed a structured internship program catering to college students and upperclassmen in high school, exposing them to aviation careers and helping them build essential skills for the future workforce. The DOA’s Internship Program at PHL provides a unique employment experience, supporting students throughout the region by offering access to professional development and career preparation.
- PHL proudly hosts students from WTS as part of the WTS Philadelphia’s Transportation You program. This initiative introduces girls aged 13 to 18 to transportation careers, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
School Tour Program
PHL’s School Tour Program provides students K-12 a glimpse into the PHL ecosystem by supplying a behind the scenes look at day-to-day Airport operations by hosting events such as PHL's Next Generation Empowerment Day where students receive a tour and hear from our leaders about their roles and career trajectories. To date, DOA has hosted schools/organizations from Cheltenham Township, NJ, Philadelphia, Delaware County, and international students via University of Pennsylvania’s Engineering Program.
