Workforce Development

The Department of Aviation’s Workforce Development team is committed to engaging and developing talent by offering internships, volunteer opportunities, mentorship, career and skill building programs, and much more at PHL. The Department of Aviation hosts a co-op program with Drexel throughout the year, and a summer paid internship program. PHL has historically partnered on hiring fairs, offering job readiness programming for job seekers. PHL continues to sponsor the PHL Job Portal which highlights opportunities across the airport. The DOA’s Workforce Development efforts creates opportunities through career advancement and pathways for employees via initiatives such as the Bridge Program.

External Pipeline

Apprenticeships offer on-the-job training with potential for technical classroom instruction under the supervision of a qualified mentor, supervisor and/or instructor.  The intention of the program is to train and develop the apprentice in a trade and transition them into a permanent civil service position within the City of Philadelphia, or transition to employment in the private sector.

Internships provides support students throughout the region by providing access to professional development and support as they prepare to enter the workforce and expose them to aviation careers.  Our program is open to college students and upper classmen in high school.
