Allan Wexler design workAllan Wexler's work is rooted in fine art, architecture, and design. He is known for his creative thinking about the process, function, materials, and meaning of everyday structures and objects, particularly houses and seating.

In the series of models entitled Re-Searching the House, Wexler re-thinks the standardized design of a typical home. In these studies, he proposes unique, often humorous, yet very simple ideas about what a house structure could be and different ways that it could function.

In addition to the house, Wexler thinks about furniture and explores the relationship between the fine arts and applied arts. In Folded Unfolded Chair, Wexler demonstrates how a wooden chair can interchangeably be a two-dimensional painting, a sculpture, and a functional chair.
